Safety Guide

Meeting someone new should feel excitingโ€”and safe.

Weโ€™ve built PlanB with your safety as a foundation. Hereโ€™s everything you need to know about how we protect you โ€” and how you can protect yourself.

Your data

Privacy controls that put you in charge.

You decide what you share, who can see it, and when. These arenโ€™t buried settings โ€” theyโ€™re front and center.

Built in

Approximate location only

planB never shares your exact location. Other users see an approximate distance โ€” never your address or precise coordinates.

Your choice

Profile controls

You control what others can see. Manage your visibility, activity history, and what information is displayed on your profile.

Always on

Private by default

Your contact information, exact location, and personal details are never visible to other users without your explicit permission.

Always on

Private messaging

Conversations happen in private. Your chats are between you and the other person โ€” not publicly visible on your profile.

Note: The specific privacy features available may vary as planB develops. This page describes our intended approach. Full details will be available in our Privacy Policy once the app launches.

Before you meet

Responsible meeting guide.

These arenโ€™t just guidelines โ€” theyโ€™re habits worth building whenever you meet someone new, online or offline.

Meet in a public place

For your first meeting, always choose a busy public location โ€” a cafรฉ, park, sports ground, or shopping area. Avoid private spaces until you've built trust.

Tell someone your plans

Let a friend or family member know where you're going, who you're meeting, and when you expect to be back. Share your location with them if you're comfortable.

Trust your instincts

If something feels off before or during a meeting, it's completely okay to cancel or leave. Your comfort and safety come first โ€” no explanation required.

Keep personal details private

Don't share your home address, workplace, or financial information with someone you've just met on the app. Take your time before sharing personal details.

Arrange your own transport

For initial meetings, make your own way there and back. Having independent transport means you're in control of when you arrive and when you leave.

Check in with someone

During or after the meeting, send a quick message to someone you trust to let them know you're okay. A simple check-in goes a long way.

Our standards

Community guidelines.

planB is a community. These are the values that keep it safe and welcoming for everyone.

Be honest

Use your real identity. Don't misrepresent yourself, your intentions, or your plans.

Be respectful

Treat everyone with basic human decency. Harassment, discrimination, and abuse are not tolerated.

Be safe

Don't share content or engage in behaviour that could put yourself or others at risk.

Be genuine

planB is for real people who want to do real things together. No spam, no fake accounts, no manipulation.
